Property Surveys in France are not that common as it is not a requirement for mortgage companies.
However, it is a practical thing to have done if you have any concerns especially if you love a place but feel that you are not qualified to verify the structure of a building.
As chartered surveyors do not exist in France, and although an English surveyor can help, they may not always be easily available. Therefore, we suggest a practical building report.
Available from around 350 euros depending on size of property (just apply for an estimate) and a much more informative report on any property.
The standard report covers:
Walls
Roof
Plumbing/Sanitation
Timbers/Carpentry
Electricity.
Please note that there are three surveys which the vendor supplies and pays for these are given to you prior to your signature of the first contract.
Asbestos
Lead
Electricty (internal installation).
